Smoky Mountain Deer Farm
Take a trip down Happy Hollow Lane in Sevierville and you will end up at the Smoky Mountain Deer Farm Exotic Petting Zoo and the Deer Farm Riding Stables. Twenty-five years ago Lynn and Greg carved the deer farm out of 143 acres of Smoky Mountain hills and valleys to create an enjoyable and fun experience for the entire family.
The Petting Zoo is a one-of-a-kind experience showcasing some of nature’s most graceful creatures in a barnyard environment. You can stroll through the zoo and visit with a zebra, elk, kangaroo, a pot-bellied pig, a goat, a camel and reindeer, mini-donkey, exotic cattle, Watusi, mini-horses, draft horses and many, many more huggable animals. Of course you can feed the animals and normally there are new-born babies and other young animals born on the farm that you can see and enjoy. Be sure and bring your camera to take those unforgettable photos of your children and family members interacting with the citizens of the Deer Farm.
The safety and cleanliness of the animals is paramount at the Deer Farm. All animals undergo regular vet inspections, and a full time zookeeper staff maintains a clean and healthy environment for the animals and for the guests. Hand washing facilities are located both inside and outside for use by the guests. But why would anyone want to wash off camel kisses? The zoo is open year round, weather permitting, and is USDA and AAA approved.
You can also take a horse ride, and they cater to first time and ‘rusty’ riders. Children 3 and older are encouraged to ride their own gentle horse, or they can double up with a parent. The stable and facilities are cleaned routinely and the well fed and healthy horses are groomed daily when ridden. The horses get two days off each week and they rest in-between rides in the shady barn. The trails also offer lots of shade, depending on the season, fantastic views and they are well maintained to ensure a smooth and safe ride.
Take your family or group to the Smoky Mountain Deer Farm and the Deer Farm Riding Stables for an afternoon of unforgettable fun in a beautiful area in the Great Smoky Mountains.
